Expanding Your Family Through Adoption
The Adoption Authority offers complete consultation for those who would like to adopt a child within the United States. Our network of attorneys, adoption agencies and hospitals can open doors to scores of possibilities for adoption locally and across the country. We specialize in helping birth mothers in rural areas.
At The Adoption Authority, adoptive families are treated individually and with the utmost respect for their hopes and dreams. Each case is assigned to an adoption specialist who is available to guide the parents through the complexity of the adoption process. These experts will help adoptive families develop a family profile, answer their questions, aid with paperwork and support them when an adoptive placement is made.
The first step in exploring domestic adoption is to review and complete the application. This form can be emailed or faxed to you. Once completed and returned with the application fee of $100, we will immediately assign you to a social worker and your home visit will be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you.
The cost of a domestic adoption varies depending on the adoptive situation. We will work within your budget. Our goal is to provide quality services at the lowest financial risk for adopting families. We are a small agency and we are able to focus on you and your needs. You will not be shifted between multiple workers who do not know you and your unique situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is required to become an adoptive parent?
There are several steps for adoptive families. The initial step involves completing an
application for prescreening. Once you are prescreened, you will start the home study process with a licensed agency in your state-we are licensed for Georgia and Florida families. After the home
study is complete, you will be ready to be matched with a potential birth mother.
What services are available to adoptive families?
We can provide the home study for families living in Florida and Georgia. If you already have a home study, and need an update, we can do that, as well. We also provide post placement visits after
the child is placed in your home.
Will we be able to meet the birth mother?
We allow the birth mother to make this decision. If she requests to meet you, we will assist you
with making those arrangements.
How long is the wait?
The wait differs from case to case. The more specific and detailed requirements for the birth mother or child can
result in a longer wait. For example, if you are requesting a blonde hair/blue eyed birth mother with a secondary education, we will have to wait for someone fitting that description to sign up with
The Adoption Authority.
How do I get more information?
Call or email us to get an adoptive family information packet sent to you. Once you are prescreened, we
will start the home study process for families living in Georgia or Florida. Families living outside of these states will have to locate a licensed provider in the appropriate
state.
Do you work with families in the military?
Yes, absolutely! The Adoption Authority is extremely knowledgeable about the Military and has
worked with several Military families to ensure a successful adoption and transition into parenthood.
Both my spouse and I work, should one of us quit to stay home?
No, but you will be asked about your child care plans during the home
study. Obviously, you may not have a detailed plan prepared. It is helpful to have an idea of who will care for your child while you are both working.
What are your fees?
The fee depends on the service being provided. We will include a fee agreement in the prescreening
paperwork.
What other services do you offer to waiting parents?
On our website, we post the profiles of waiting parents for birth mothers to review.
If we complete your home study, you can post your profile for no additional charge. If we have not completed your home study, you can still post your profile. Contact us for more
information.
